Hyderabad to Launch AI-Powered Property Registration by Mid-April in Transparency Push

Hyderabad, Telangana – The Telangana government is taking major steps to combat corruption. It also aims to streamline real estate transactions. An AI-driven property registration system will roll out in Hyderabad by mid-April. The pilot phase will debut at Champapet and Saroornagar sub-registrar offices, with statewide expansion planned after successful testing.
Key Features of the AI Registration System
- Faster Processing: Reduces registration time from 1 hour to just 10–15 minutes
- Online Slot Booking: Buyers/sellers can schedule appointments for non-agricultural properties (first-time feature beyond Dharani portal)
- Random Office Allocation: AI assigns sub-registrar offices to prevent bribery & selective processing
- Real-Time Monitoring: Rejections require valid reasons, triggering alerts for suspicious activity
- Footfall Management: Directs applicants to less crowded offices for smoother transactions
- Fraud Prevention: Blocks registrations for buffer zones, lake FTLs, and illegal properties
How It Tackles Corruption
The current system faces arbitrary rejections and middlemen exploitation. The AI solution:
- Hides applicant details from staff until processing begins
- Logs all rejections for audit trails
- Eliminates human bias in office assignments
“This system will bring transparency and curb malpractices,” said an official. “No more bribes for ‘priority’ registrations.”
Next Steps
- Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy has sought CM A. Revanth Reddy’s approval for the pilot.
- If successful, the tech will expand to all Telangana sub-registrar offices.
Why This Matters
With AI oversight, Telangana aims to:
- Reduce corruption in real estate deals
- Cut citizen harassment by touts & officials
- Modernize governance using smart tech
A model for other states? If effective, this could inspire nationwide adoption of AI in property registration.
